"Graham Clark as the clever Loge, god of fire, was easily the most impressive member of the cast, convincingly bringing humor and life to a role that can be played as cardboard."
~ Dallas Opera

"Clark, a Bayreuth regular and virtuoso singer, provides the only comic element in an otherwise somber story. It takes a great actor to look touching and ridiculous at the same time."
~ The Bulletin

Gwynne Howell, Graham Clark sing Berg's Lulu at the Met
Next month tenor Graham Clark and bass Gwynne Howell return to the US to begin rehearsals for Berg’s Lulu at the Metropolitan Opera.

Graham Clark also returns to the West Coast, where he reprises his Mime in Das Rheingold and Siegfried as the LA Opera presents its new Ring Cycle in full. Other recent dates include Valzacchi in Der Rosenkavalier and the maniacal auctioneer Sellem in The Rake's Progress at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden (he repeats Sellem this summer at Glyndebourne with Vladimir Jurowski.)

Gwynne Howell last sang Schigolch in Lulu with the Royal Opera in Summer 2009. Other recent dates include Simone in Gianni Schicchi and Jake Wallace in La Fanciulla del West, with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Il Re in Aida with the English National Opera; Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro at Santa Fe Opera; and Dansker in Billy Budd and Benoit/Alcindoro in La Boheme, with the Houston Grand Opera. (March 2010)

Tenor Graham Clark returns to the US as the twisted Witch in LA's Hansel und Gretel
Tenor Graham Clark also appears in the US this fall with his wonderfully twisted Witch in Los Angeles Opera's new Hansel und Gretel.  Mr. Clark, who is currently singing Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos in Madrid, will return to LA in the 2009/10 season for the newly announced Ring Cycle.  Other engagements this season include Gurlitt's Wozzeck at the Teatro Real and Khovanshchina in Barcelona. (October 2006)

Graham Clark returns to the Met for Wozzeck
Tenor Graham Clark returned to the Met in December and January for performances of the Captain in Wozzeck led by James Levine. The four performances caused quite a stir in New York City receiving rave reviews for the committed cast of singing actors and Levine's phenomenal reading of the score. Mr. Clark returns to the Royal Opera Covent Garden at the end of February for further performances of the Captain and later in the season appears with the English National Opera as Hauk Sendorf in the Makropolis Case. Next season he appears at the Teatro Real in Madrid as the Dance Master in Ariadne auf Naxos and the Los Angeles Opera as the Witch in a new Douglas Fitch production of Hansel and Gretel conducted by Alan Gilbert. (February 2006)

Tenor-of-many-faces GRAHAM CLARK pleased audience and reviewers to no end by bringing his Witch to life in Hansel and Gretel at the San Francisco Opera, both in November and in a reprise in January. "Everybody loved Graham Clark's cross-dressing Witch," said the San Francisco Examiner, while the San Francisco Chronicle remarked, "The most memorable performance came from tenor Graham Clark as the witch, done up as a sort of nefarious granny from hell with a string of pearls and thick ankles stuffed into ominous black orthopedic shoes... He offered the most well-tuned singing and the most vivacious stage presence of the afternoon." Mr. Clark's plans include Loge in Barcelona, The Captain in Aix-en-Provence (Wozzeck), Mime at Bayreuth, Shuisky in Geneva (Boris Godunov), Piet in London (Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre), and The Dancemaster in Paris (Ariadne auf Naxos).
