Gwynne Howell, Graham Clark sing Berg's Lulu at the Met
Next month tenor Graham Clark and bass Gwynne Howell return to the US to begin rehearsals for Berg’s Lulu at the Metropolitan Opera.

Graham Clark also returns to the West Coast, where he reprises his Mime in Das Rheingold and Siegfried as the LA Opera presents its new Ring Cycle in full. Other recent dates include Valzacchi in Der Rosenkavalier and the maniacal auctioneer Sellem in The Rake's Progress at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden (he repeats Sellem this summer at Glyndebourne with Vladimir Jurowski.)

Gwynne Howell last sang Schigolch in Lulu with the Royal Opera in Summer 2009. Other recent dates include Simone in Gianni Schicchi and Jake Wallace in La Fanciulla del West, with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Il Re in Aida with the English National Opera; Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro at Santa Fe Opera; and Dansker in Billy Budd and Benoit/Alcindoro in La Boheme, with the Houston Grand Opera. Welsh bass GWYNNE HOWELL spent April and May at the Houston Grand Opera, singing Benoit/Alcindoro in La Bohème and Dansker in Billy Budd - a production praised as "one of the best-sung performances the company has presented in many years." (Houston Chronicle, April 27, 2008)

Other productions this season include Parsifal at the Royal Opera House and Aida at the English National Opera. Next up Mr. Howell returns to Santa Fe Opera, singing Dr. Bartolo in a new production of Le Nozze di Figaro (his last SFO appearance was the reprisal of his world-premiere role in Thomas Adés' The Tempest.) This fall Mr. Howell returns to the Royal Opera House for Puccini's La fanciulla del West.

Welsh bass Gwynne Howell steps into the 2006/07 season fresh from triumphant performances (as one of two original cast members) of Thomas Adès' The Tempest at Santa Fe.  Mr. Howell appears in the Covent Garden Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk this month, and records Dickoy in Katya Kabanova in December for Chandos (October 2006)
