This weekend, Jacques Lacombe leads his home orchestra, the New Jersey Symphony, and soloists including bass-baritone Dashon Burton and soprano Celena Shafer in that evergreen holiday masterwork, Handel's Messiah.
Earlier this month Celena Shafer sang Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with the Utah Symphony – and she returns to the Symphony to celebrate the New Year with a sparkling program of Johann Strauss II and Franz Lehár.
And Dashon Burton was hailed for performances of Messiah with the Boston Baroque:
"Bass-baritone Dashon Burton raised the dead during a standout 'The trumpet will sound,' slowly folding in ever more intensity and warmth, matching brilliance with Robin Pyle’s resounding Baroque trumpet and provoking sudden applause."
